Guide for buying the right travel adapters/converters:
Traveling overseas and have no idea which adapter you’ll need? Use this guide to help you for your next holiday.
There are basically 3 things you should consider when buying a travel adapter:
- What country will you be traveling to? You can use the table below to specify which country you will be traveling to and see which adapter you will need. You can get travel adapters and converters all in one combo unit. But most travel adapters are capable to handle voltage between 100v-240v. This range of voltage are capable to charge your cell phones, laptops, tablets, cameras, portable chargers, MP3 players, etc. However, you should check your electronic devices and travel adapter’s voltage to make sure they are compatible. In most cases, high power appliances will need a transformer converter, which is different than travel adapters mentioned on this page. These high-power appliances could include hair dryers, curling irons, hair straighteners, clothes iron, refrigerators, kitchen appliances, TV.
- How many outlets or input sockets would you prefer? Travel adapters may vary in how many electronics you can charge at one time. The average travel adapters will have 3 – 5 input sockets so you can charge 3 – 5 electronics at one time. If you have many electronic devices you may want to consider a travel adapter that has more input sockets.
- Would you rather have a compact adapter or don’t mind a larger adapter? Travel adapter comes in many different shapes and sizes. If you are normally a light packer or don’t check any bags in and just have carry-on bags, then the compact travel adapter may be for you. There are travel adapters that come in as small as 1” square and less than a pound in weight. This compact feature makes it very easy to pack in your luggage, bag or even purse. If you prefer more input sockets or will be putting it in a bag that you are checking in, then a larger travel adapter is good for you.
